Drinks at the same old places and boring restaurants. And boy, do these people find every excuse to "celebrate" - not that celebrations are usually very exciting. When I last wanted to do that,I had to make an appointment at the consulate, sit and wait for hours, take a few days off at work, prepare a stack of supporting documents and these people fly overseas like it's taking your bike to the nearest little shop around the corner.

If I had such meddling friends like some of these characters, I would relocate! Then there are frequent scenarios that are quite improbable, like characters who can simply fly to Europe in a few days. It really irritates me how some of the characters have this deep pit of curiosity concerning other people's demeanor so that I get irritated on behalf of some of the characters. This is due to the fact that there is always some characters that will keep us informed due to gossip that continuously takes place. However, to me, it's another "soapie" where you can miss a few episodes and you will not have missed much, since the story is very repetitive and discussions in some character dialogues linger on for days about some past events that took place -and you can catch up.

As with any story, what makes a "soapie" like Sewende laan work (at least for thousands of South Africans)is the fact that there are relationships and situations that do make you curious from time to time.
